Howard B. Aschwald, CFA
Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Aschwald co-founded Quantum Capital in 1996. He is the Director of Research and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to Quantum Capital, Mr. Aschwald started his investment career in 1983 with Morgan Stanley. He then joined the investment management firm of Stein Roe as a technology analyst and portfolio manager. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and recently retired as a Captain in the Naval Reserve. Mr. Aschwald has two MBA's from Golden Gate University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA charterholder). He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Security Analysts Society of San Francisco and former All-Navy golf team member.
Mat A. Johnson
Portfolio Manager, Investment Strategist
Prior to joining Quantum Capital, Mr. Johnson held the position of Director of Growth Investment Strategy and Economic Research at ThinkEquity Partners, with earlier roles in the investment industry including the Chief Economist and Director of Growth Strategy with Thomas Weisel Partners; growth stock strategist in Merrill Lynch's Global Growth Strategies Group; Senior Economist and Growth Strategist with Montgomery Securities, and the U.S. forecast economist in Bank of America's Economic and Policy Research Department. He earned his M.A. in Financial and Development Economics from Rutgers University; and conducted graduate research at both the London School of Economics and Leningrad University. Mr. Johnson is a long-time competitive sailor, having campaigned for two U.S. Olympic Trials and continues to compete at the national and international levels.
Stephen A. Bradley
Co-Founder, President
Mr. Bradley co-founded Quantum Capital in 1996. He has been in the investment business since 1971. Prior to Quantum Capital, Mr. Bradley started his career with Merrill Lynch, where he worked as an institutional stockbroker, and Morgan Stanley, SVP, supervising numerous financial advisers and several billion dollars in assets. Mr. Bradley serves on the board of directors of the TH Group, Inc. and Independent Living Systems, Inc. Mr. Bradley is a member of the CFA Institute, The Security Analysts Society of San Francisco, and the International Association for Financial Planning. Mr. Bradley graduated from the University of the State of New York and attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School. He is an avid skier and enjoys biking and tennis.
Michael R. Vogel, CFA, CFP®
Managing Director
Mr. Vogel has over twenty years in the investment business, primarily Institutional Fixed Income, including Municipal Bonds and Corporate Cash. He started his career at Paine Webber, then Sutro & Co., Piper Jaffray and Fidelity Capital Markets. At Quantum Capital, he is part of the Fixed Income management group and Business Development team. Mr. Vogel graduated from U.C. Davis with a degree in Managerial Economics. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA charterholder) and also has a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Security Analysts Society of San Francisco. An ex-rugby player and a private pilot, he enjoys flying, boating, skiing and camping.
Brett J. Meyer, CFA
Managing Director
Mr. Meyer has over twelve years of experience in the asset management business. Prior to joining Quantum Capital, Mr. Meyer held positions in the Institutional Consulting Group, Plan Sponsor Consulting Group and the Independent Advisor Group with Callan Associates since 1998. In his most recent role with Callan Associates, he served as a Director of Research for the Independent Adviser Group, overseeing an open architecture investment manager platform consisting of over 200 unique products. In addition to his investment research responsibilities, Mr. Meyer also served in a client service capacity for collection of RIA’s multi-family offices, and large financial intermediaries. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA charterholder) and received his BA in Business Administration and Sports Management from Principia College, where he was named an All-American Tennis player.
Conni S. Brinkman
Managing Director
Ms. Brinkman has over thirteen years of experience in the asset management business. Prior to joining Quantum, she was a Director at Lateef Investment Management, focused on marketing and cross-selling firm expertise to Institutional, Financial Intermediary and High Net Worth prospects and Consulting firms. Ms. Brinkman spent over seven years at RCM Capital Management in San Francisco working with the firm’s Corporate, Public, Endowment, Foundation, and Financial Intermediary clients. Prior to moving to the west coast, she worked for both Lazard Asset Management and Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Inc in New York in client service and marketing roles. Ms. Brinkman received her BS in Finance from Boston College and holds Series 7 and Series 63 securities licenses. She enjoys running, yoga, skiing and travel.
Stephen A. Bradley Jr.
Director
At Quantum Capital, Mr. Bradley is part of the investment research team, responsible for equity analysis in several economic sectors and options analysis. He is also part of the client relationship team. Mr. Bradley graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Physical Science with emphasis on Chemistry and Geology, and a masters degree in Financial Analysis at the University of San Francisco. Mr. Bradley is a Chartered Financial Analyst Candidate (Level II). He enjoys tennis, skiing and basketball.
Adam S. Breech, CFP®
Director
At Quantum Capital, Mr. Breech is part of the investment research team, responsible for equity analysis in several economic sectors, securities trading and operations. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Economics. Mr. Breech enjoys spending time with his young daughter and playing soccer.
Rongping Yu
Director of Asian Business Development
Ms. Yu graduated from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China where she majored in Business Finance and Banking. She worked for two years in Shanghai as a private investment banker. She joined Quantum Capital in 2010 as the Director of Asian Business Development. In her off time she likes studying English and enjoys skiing and bowling.
